Most recognized global site for cancer that is user-friendly. Offers general information as well as specific overviews of types, risk factors, diagnosis, early detection, treatment, a 1-800 number and live chat.

American Institute for Cancer Research
This user-friendly website includes resources for cancer patients and survivors. Provides information on ways to reduce cancer risk, recommendations on cancer prevention, and information on on-going and up to date research.

Cancer Support Community provides information for treatment decision-making, support groups and other resources. Mental health professionals facilitate online support groups.

Directed at the young adult population providing support directories, forums and quick links related to various issues and specific cancer organizations.

Worldwide patient support based foundation that provides information on fundraising efforts both on the community level as well as organizational level. Connection with social networking via Blog, iPad App and Facebook and provides one-on-one support plus a Care Plan 'survivorship' guide.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Excellent cancer resource that includes information on complementary and alternative medicine, herbs and botanicals. Includes fact sheets, user tips and research information.

National Cancer Institute
Comprehensive cancer website for providers and patients. Includes information on cancer topics (A-Z), up to date research, statistics, resources and articles. Less user-friendly but important information may be found here.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) - The Federal Government's lead agency for scientific research on complementary and alternative medicine.

National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship developer
Provides information on cancer and public policy including the Comprehensive Cancer Care Improvement Act (CCIA), its premise and goals. Includes information on cancer advocacy and resources such as communicating with your healthcare team, employment rights, and insurance issues. Of particular note is The Cancer Survival Toolbox: a comprehensive audio program that is given to newly diagnosed patients and those ending treatment.

NCI Clinical Trial Information
Information on how to find a clinical trial related to specific diagnoses. Learn the how, what and why of clinical trials, results of recent studies by type or topic.

Patient Advocate Foundation
Provides patients with arbitration, mediation and negotiation to settle issues with access to care, medical and job retentions related to their illness. Offers resources and information inclusive of webchat, webinars, encrypted email, etc.

Young Cancer Spouses
Dedicated to helping the spouses of adults with cancer share information, support and experiences. Provides information on ways for the caregiver to take care of themselves from sleep issues to accepting or asking others for help.

Urology Care Foundation is committed to promoting urology research and education. They work with researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers to improve patients' lives. The Urology Care Foundation is the official foundation of the American Urological Association, an organization of roughly 20,000 urologists. Their website provides information on bladder cancer, clinical research trials, and frequently asked questions.

Bright Pink is a national non-profit focusing on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer while providing support for high-risk individuals and those who receive a diagnosis. The organization is especially for young women in their 20's or 30's.

Faces of Metastatic Breast Cancer
Provides interactive support utilizing pictures and videos of those living with or supporting someone with metastatic disease. Includes an interactive discussion board.

Knitted Knockers is an organization that provides free washable, lighter and softer knitted prostheses for women who have had mastectomies without reconstructive surgery. Patterns are also available on their website. Contact the local organization at to inquire about receiving free knitted protheses that can be worn with your own bra (available in waterproof material).

Easy to navigate site provides a comprehensive guide to understanding breast cancer including basic information, statistics, risk factors, information for men, and integrative/complimentary therapies. Includes online blog and message board.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer
Provides information on breast cancer from the basics through treatment to the newest clinical trials and research and beyond to give the patient what they feel gives optimal quality of life. Includes survivor helpline, webinars, conference information, online brochures/guides, and Body and Soul: an interactive online community discussion and informational board.

Metastatic Breast Cancer Network
Provides information related to diagnosis, treatment, clinical trials, glossary of terms, public service spotlights and expectations. Includes patient support matches, supportive home services, retreats, and financial assistance.

Mothers Supporting Daughters with Breast Cancer
Provides mothers options to work one-on-one with a mother that has a daughter with the same type of disease/treatments. Also offers support to the daughter if she requests it.

Pink Party Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. helps local (Fox Valley area) patients (women and men) struggling with breast cancer. Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation
